AAh, PasToe—a place where culinary curiosity meets the unexpected.h, PasToe—a place where culinary curiosity meets the unexpected.
Our panel of fine, slightly skeptical, and ever-hungry critics (Martijntje, Alex, Yuva, and Martijn) found themselves here, some by choice, others by sheer misfortune of Google Maps' deceit.
But hey, sometimes the best adventures begin with a little lost wandering.
Let’s talk food.
While the menu seems to take a hipster approach—somewhere between “Oh, that sounds fancy” and “I have no idea what this ingredient is”—the actual execution isn’t half bad.
The sandwiches?
Top-tier.
Fresh, high-quality ingredients assembled with the finesse of a chef who knows what they’re doing.
The burgers?
A solid hit, though carnivores might be left wanting more variety.
The steak sandwich, however, caused a moment of deep existential crisis—overcooked meat and lackluster toppings, proving that fancy names don’t always equal fantastic flavors.
Ambiance-wise, this place surprises.
Hidden in an industrial area that screams “don’t walk alone at night,” the interior is cleverly designed, balancing between hipster chic and “we converted this abandoned factory into something cool.” Not your typical cozy lunch spot, but perfect for an evening of food and drinks with a laid-back crowd.
Now, let’s talk money.
Some dishes justify their price tags, while others seem to charge extra just for including ingredients with names that require a quick Google search.
It’s not cheap, but you do get a respectable level of quality.
So, is PasToe worth your visit?
If you enjoy well-crafted sandwiches, an industrial-chic setting, and a chef willing to improvise a vegetarian dish for you, then yes.
But if you're after a hearty, meat-heavy meal or a budget-friendly experience, you might leave with a slightly lighter wallet and heavier regret.
Bonus points were awarded for great presentation and dish customization, while a slight deduction was made for the limited meat selection and overpriced pretentiousness.
Net effect?
Zero—so it all evens out in the end.
